Custom Jerseys From Shirt.Co: What is Sublimation?
In order to provide the best in custom jerseys, Shirt.Co relies on sublimated designs or logos that will never crack, peel, or fade on breathable, flexible, moisture-wicking material with a high polyester content. Sublimation uses heat to essentially bring ink and fabric together as one. To start the process, a design or logo is printed on special paper. The inks that are used turn into gas when heated, then combine with the fabric. The heat opens the pores of the fabric then, with the applied pressure, the ink cools and returns to a solid form. The sublimation process is akin to a tattoo, obviously substituting a custom jersey for your skin.
Sublimation printing is also known as “all over printing” as it allows you to utilize a design or logo that goes from seam to seam, making it ideal for custom jerseys. The end effects are permanent and less prone to fading, as the ink is embedded in the fabric, as opposed to simply laying on top like a normal screenprint. Sublimation creates designs that are durable and lasting, ready to work as hard as you do when you’re on the court, field, rink, or track.

When using screen printed or embroidered custom jerseys, there are additional costs associated with adding a player name or a sponsor logo. Additionally, our sublimation custom jerseys are lighter and more comfortable than conventional jerseys as the fabric remains smooth because the printing is blended with the fabric. This a bonus over feeling the dried ink from logos on a screen-printed jersey, or having the ink stick to your skin. Screen printing is also not particularly effective on the moisture wicking fabrics like polyester that are ideal for athletic performance wear.
