The Screenprinting Process
Screenprinting is a precise process that transforms your design into a lasting print. It starts with a mesh screen coated with a light-sensitive emulsion. When exposed to light, the emulsion hardens, creating a stencil that allows ink to pass through only in specific areas of the design. For multi-color or intricate designs, multiple screens are used — one for each color. The stenciled screen is then placed on a press, directly above the shirt or other item being printed.
Next, a thick ink called plastisol is applied to the top of the screen. Using a squeegee (either manually or by machine), the ink is pushed through the open areas of the stencil, transferring the design onto the fabric below. After printing, the ink must be cured with heat, transforming it from a wet, flexible state into a durable, long-lasting finish. This process is repeated for every item in your order, ensuring consistent, high-quality prints. Once complete, your freshly printed merchandise is packaged and ready for pickup or delivery.
