Oh, how far baseball uniforms have come. When they first began, back in 1849, baseball uniforms were made of wool pants, white flannel shirts, and straw hats. Every first baseman, for instance, donned the same scarlet-and-white-striped shirt and bowtie, no matter which team they were on.
