Detroit, MI Baseball Uniforms From Shirt.Co: What is Sublimation?
We bank on sublimated logos and designs on our baseball uniforms that will never crack, peel, or fade on flexible, breathable, and moisture-wicking material. No matter the Detroit, MI temperature or conditions. Sublimation printing, also called “all over printing” as it allows you to utilize a design or logo that goes from seam to seam, uses heat to essentially combine ink and fabric together as one. To start in Detroit, MI, your logo or design is printed on our special paper. The inks turn into gas when heated, then coalesce with the fabric. The heat opens the pores of the fabric and then, with the applied pressure, the ink cools and returns to a solid state. The sublimation procedure is often compared to a tattoo, obviously substituting baseball jerseys for your skin.
This technique is ideal for our custom baseball uniforms in Detroit, MI, which are lighter and more comfortable than some competitors’ jerseys, because the fabric remains smooth due to the printing melding with the fabric, as opposed to feeling the dried, thorny ink on your skin on those competitors’ jerseys. There is not much worse than standing out in the field with the sun barraging you amidst a Detroit, MI summer scorcher, replete with a 113 heat index, only to feel the displeasure of your uniform numbers melting to your skin. That’s upsetting, particularly seeing as baseball uniforms cost money. We can hope, for your sake, those curious eyes of your special fan didn’t see that.
You and your Detroit, MI squad, to say nothing of your front-and-center, devoted fan(s), warrant better. Give us a call today at 636-926-2777 or contact us online.
Detroit, MI Baseball Uniforms: A Brief History
Oh, how far baseball uniforms have come. When they first started, back in 1849, baseball uniforms were made of wool pants, white flannel shirts, and straw hats. Seems ideal for one of those Detroit, MI hot summer days, right? By 1882, uniforms were based on position rather than team. Every first baseman, for instance, wore the same scarlet-and-white-striped shirt and bowtie, no matter which side of the field they were on. This idea didn’t quite take off brilliantly, lasting just a season prior to being called clown costumes and getting tossed.
In 1929, numbers were sewn on the back of major league baseball uniforms. It took 20-plus years for the digits to be added to the front, too. Batting helmets weren’t introduced until 1939, and were not required for several decades. Wool caps and uniforms, or at least wool blends, were utilized until 2007. There were many alterations and adaptations along the way. The Chicago White Sox, at the decree of quirky owner Bill Veeck, donned Bermuda shorts in 1976. The Philadelphia Phillies rocked zippers on their jerseys in 1979. And the list goes on. And on.
