Chicago, IL Baseball Uniforms From Shirt.Co: What is Sublimation?
We rely on sublimated designs and logos on our baseball uniforms that won’t crack, peel, or fade on flexible, breathable, and moisture-wicking material. No matter the Chicago, IL temperature or environmental situations. Sublimation printing, also called “all over printing” as it allows you to utilize a design or logo that goes from seam to seam, uses heat to basically meld ink and fabric together as one. To begin, your logo or design is printed on our special paper. The inks turn into gas when heated, then coalesce with the fabric. The high temperature uncovers the pores of the fabric and then, with the applied pressure, the ink cools and returns to a solid form. The sublimation process is often compared to a tattoo, clearly exchanging baseball jerseys for your skin.
This technique is ideal for our custom baseball uniforms in Chicago, IL, which are lighter and softer than some competitors’ jerseys, because the fabric remains smooth due to the printing melding with the fabric, contrary to feeling the dried, prickly ink on your skin on those competitors’ jerseys. There’s not much worse than standing in the dusty outfield with the sun grilling you amidst a Chicago, IL summer scorcher, replete with a 113 heat index, only to feel the displeasure of ink melting to your skin. That’s embarrassing, especially seeing as baseball uniforms cost money. Hopefully, those inquisitive eyes of your special fan didn’t notice that.
You and your Chicago, IL team, not to mention your easily-seen, devoted fan(s), warrant more. Contact us online or give us a call now at 636-926-2777 for a quote.
Chicago, IL Baseball Uniforms: A Brief History
Oh, how far baseball uniforms have come. When they first began, back in 1849, baseball uniforms were made of wool pants, white flannel shirts, and straw hats. Seems ideal for one of those Chicago, IL hot summer days, right? By 1882, uniforms were based on position instead of team. Every first baseman, for instance, donned the same scarlet-and-white-striped shirt and bowtie, no matter which team they were on. This idea didn’t quite take off brilliantly, surviving just a year before being called clown costumes and being ditched.
In the late 1920s, numbers were sewn on the back of major league baseball uniforms. It took another couple of decades for numbers to be put on the front, too. Batting helmets were not introduced until 1939, but were not required for several decades. Wool caps and uniforms, or at the very least wool blends, were utilized until 2007. There were many alterations and adaptations along the way. The Philadelphia Phillies rocked zippers on their jerseys in 1979. The Chicago White Sox, at the behest of unique owner Bill Veeck, wore Bermuda shorts back in 1976. And the list goes on. And on.
